There are a number of different leave types which can be added to RotaCloud - an important one to many businesses is Public Holiday.
How to add Public Holiday leave
Public Holidays need to be added as individual instances in RotaCloud but you can add it to multiple users at once making it a quick and easy process.
To begin, go to your Leave tab and click the blue plus icon at the top of the page.
You'll then see a pop-up box where you can enter leave. From the 'Select employee(s)' list, tick the user(s) you'd like to add the public holiday for or, if you'd like to add it to all users, tick 'Select all' at the bottom of the dropdown. Once you have chosen the users you'd like, click 'Done'.
Below your employees list, you can select the type of leave you're adding. Click 'More' and select 'Public Holiday'.
Next, click the 'Start date' box and enter the date of the public holiday. The 'End date' will automatically populate with the same day but you can also click this if you'd like to manually adjust the end date.
Scrolling down further, you then have the option to add a number of hours assigned to the leave, choose if you'd like it to be paid or unpaid, and can add an optional message. Once you are done, scroll back up to the top and click 'Add leave'.
If the public holiday clashes with any existing shifts and you're not sure what to do, click here.
If there are no clashes, the leave will now be added for all relevant staff.
Deducting Public Holiday from leave allowance
As standard, all leave added as Holiday will be taken from an employee's holiday allowance* - Admin users can determine if you'd like public holidays you add to also be deducted from an employee's leave allowance in your account settings.
To do this, click the cog icon in the top right corner of your page to access settings. Scroll down to the section titled 'Leave' and you'll see the option 'Public Holiday will be deducted from holiday allowances'.
If you have factored public holidays into an employee's allowance and would like them to deduct from their annual leave figure, tick this. If public holidays are in addition to their leave allowance, leave this unticked.
*Holiday will always be deducted from allowance providing it is a working day. Allowance will not be deducted on non-working days.
