In RotaCloud, Roles are used to determined the type of work an employee will be working during a shift. For example, in care, you may have roles such as 'Senior carer', 'Night carer', 'Team leader' etc..

Roles can also be used to determine the amount of pay the employee receives for the shift - this is particularly helpful if you have staff who work multiple roles at different rates of pay.

Who can create a Role

Roles can be created and assigned by all Admin users and Managers who have the permission 'Manage roles'. Managers will then also be able to assign any employee they manage to a Role.

Adding a new Role

To create a new Role, go to your Company tab and select 'Roles'. Next, click the blue plus icon at the top of your page.

You can then give your new Role a name and can add an optional default break and colour (this will show on the rota when adding a shift under the new Role). Scroll down to tick the employees you'd like to assign to work the Role and click 'Add' once done.
