If you use two-factor Authentication to log in to your RotaCloud account (also known as 2FA, two-step authentication, multi-factor authentication, and MFA) you will have access to recovery code.
What are recovery codes?
Recovery codes are codes unique to your RotaCloud account which are used to gain access again if you are locked out as a result of your 2FA setting. For example, if you get a new phone and no longer have access to your authenticator app, you can use your recovery codes to log in.
It is important that these codes are accessed as soon as possible and downloaded/noted and kept safe in the (likely unpredictable) event that you cannot access your authenticator.
Where can I find my recovery codes on the app?
To find y our recovery codes in the app, tap the three lines in the top right of your screen. You will then see the option '2FA Recovery codes' - tap this to see a brief explanation of what recovery codes are and advice on where to store them.
Tap 'Access recovery codes'. You will see one final warning screen making you aware that you can only access these once and can proceed to view them. Once you have accessed these codes, it's essential to download or make note of them - you will not be able to view these again.
Where can I find my recovery codes on desktop?
To access your recovery codes on desktop, click the cog icon on your desktop to access your settings. You then need to navigate to the 'Password & Security' section from the menu on the left. Scroll down and, beneath the heading 'Two Factor Authentication' click 'Download Recovery Codes'.
A warning message will show informing you that codes can only be downloaded once - please read this and click 'OK' to proceed. Once you have accessed these codes, it's essential to download or make note of them - you will not be able to view these again.

How do I use my recovery codes?
If you use 2FA and have lost access to your authenticator app, you can use your recovery codes to access your account instead. (Your recovery codes need to have been downloaded prior to this).
When presented with the authentication screen (below) simply add in one of your recovery codes and you will have access to your account. Please be aware that each code can only be used once and there are only five available for each account. We would strongly advise setting up 2FA again as soon as possible by reaching out to our support team at support@rotacloud.com or on live chat.
