After you have created a shift, you are able to go back and make adjustments to it. The employee in question will then be notified of this and it will instantly reflect in their account.
Editing a shift on desktop
To edit a shift on desktop, you'll need to head to the Rotas tab. Once there, simply click on the shift you wish to amend and, on the shift card that pops up, make the amendment you need. You'll be able to change the employee, date, times, break, Role, Location, published/unpublished status, and the shift note.
After you've made the changes you need, just click 'Update'.
You can also change a shift's date or the employee it is assigned to by clicking it, and dragging and dropping it to your preferred place.
Editing shifts in bulk
RotaCloud Pro offers a Bulk Actions tool which allows you to filter down your shifts, find what you need, and make changes to them all at once. This can be used to edit hundreds of shifts at the same time making changes to things like Locations, Roles, shift times, etc..
If you have Pro, you can find this on the Rotas tab on desktop by going to Tools (via the spanner icon) and then selecting 'Bulk Actions'.

Editing a shift on the app
To edit an existing shift on the app, simply go to the Rotas tab, view your shifts either in the list view or the grid view, and tap on the shift you wish to change. Tap 'Edit shift' and you'll be taken to the shift card. Here, you can change the employee, Role, Location, date, shift times, break length, published/unpublished status, or shift note.
After you've made the changes you need, just tap 'Update Shift'.
Notifying employees of changes
RotaCloud will automatically notify staff of changes made to their shifts*. These can be sent via email, app, desktop, or, if SMS is enabled on your account, via text message.
If you make a change to the Location, Role, shift times, break length, or shift note, the employee will be notified that a change has been made to their shift.
If you unpublish the shift or delete it, the employee will be notified that their shift has been deleted (unpublishing a shift means it is no longer visible to the employee so deleted from their perspective).
If the shift is moved to another employee, the initial employee will be notified that their shift has been deleted and the new employee will be notified that they have been assigned a shift.
All notifications of edited shifts have an intentional delay of around 10 minutes before any notifications are sent out to staff to avoid notifying of accidental changes. Staff will be able to see the change immediately when logging into their accounts, however.
*Each user has their own notifications settings section and will need to have these enabled in order to receive shift update notifications. For more information about notifications, click here.
